Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge to provide detailed specifications and design drawings for cabinetry commonly used in kitchens, bathrooms and laundries. This unit applies to kitchen and bathroom designers.No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

  • Confirm cabinetry requirements through review of documentation or discussion with the client
  • Determine design parameters and constraints based on client requirements and review of the site
  • Take and record accurate site measurements
  • Accurately document project requirements

  • Develop cabinet design ideas and options based on project requirements and available products and services
  • Complete drawings that visually represent cabinet design ideas
  • Refine options through experimentation and discussion with client
  • Confirm and accurately document client preferences
       
Element: Produce construction documentation
  • Develop accurate drawing, detailing all required measurements, dimensions and features
  • Identify structural features and components that impact the design on documentation using appropriate drawing protocols
  • Identify information to inform construction and installation and accurately document

Assessment Tasks
